Just witnessed this stud absolutely weapon his way through deadlifts to close a 55kg lead to win by 2.5kg. Finished with the final dead of the day at 387.5kg.
Look how small my hand is on his trap hahaha. 😍. Big props to @bonvecstrength, too. See you in 6 months! #crozculture #huntcroz

The more I learn about how fucked this world can be depending on where you were born, the family you born to, the schooling system you were brought up in, the government that controls your media, money and ultimately your future.. the more grateful I become of the cards that were dealt to me in my developmental years. My mindset has swung towards a deterministic model, not in the fact that life is 100% determined to pan out the way it will, but more-so that we are only really capable of playing the ‘game’ that is in front of us. By the ‘rules’ set out from those previous to us.
Like chess, you must always play within the rules outlined, and when you do, the potential number of outcomes/ games are infinite, which is awesome. However, you are always constrained to the rules in which we’re previously outlined.. in this case those built by whoever made the perfect combination that is chess.. life is the same... yes, you can choose to open door A, B or C but just be aware that these doors are only available to you because of the fortunate position you were born to and the ‘rules’ outlined to you by those previous.
This podcast is just another harsh reminder that this world can offer up some truely terrible opening cards. I am fortunate enough to not have to battle gangs in my early teens, a government that is corrupt beyond belief, a schooling system designed to brainwash me.
I love Australia, my parents, my closest friends and influencers, St. Peter’s Primary, Salesian College, Deakin University and Strength Culture. Be grateful and thankful to those that have paved the way for you and opened up your rule book to afford you the ability chase your goals. #strengthculture #huntprogression
Business, as I’m starting to learn more and more, is stressful. I can definitely see and feel how people get chewed up and spat out twice as hard as they came in. There are definitely some solid strategies for the front and back ends to keep the sail pointed in the right direction. However, like a sail boat, we are constantly tacking to move forward against the wind and forward resistance.
I often have my head down, just chipping away at my pieces to make some kind of progress daily and weekly towards the greater goal - my ‘goal’ seems to be adapting as I don’t really know exactly what it is I’m hunting right now other than progress forward.
Messages like this make it all worth while though. Conversations with people we have influenced, people we have inspired and people we have impacted in a way to improve the outcomes of their own life. Teaching younger coaches to roll the dice, younger allies health pros to ask more questions and seek better answers.
Charlie introduced an idea to me last week about the human race being one global sphere of consciousness, and that when we pass knowledge on we are simply passing on the ideas of previous people. No information is at its crux ‘new’, just simply adapted knowledge to your experiences/ situation. I am grateful that my adaptations of the knowledge passed onto me, by people who were willing to share, have the power to improve those who come through our odd shaped, garage of a gym.
Life is tough, but the toughness of it creates some pretty special diamonds. Keep chipping, keep chipping at those little goals daily.
We have some really cool shit cooking at @melbournestrengthculture over the coming 24 months in regards to seminars, internship options and educational content. Keep your eyes peeled if you’re keen to learn what the fuck is going on when you move and prescribe exercise.

Nothing quite like a period of this in your life, just to make sure you’re still alive and learning. #strengthculture #huntprogression #huntmotorcontrol
Respiration is the most proximal system we have control over. It is the portal to the autonomic nervous system.
I’m copying a bunch of my favourite coaches I the world with these styles of videos. Don’t ask me any questions to answer because I ask myself 2000 a day anyway. #strengthculture #huntprogression
Here’s some brain spew for those who like to read my ramblings of incoherent wish-wash.
My perception of last week was that it was the most stressful week I have had as a ‘business owner’ to date. It trumped opening week in July 2016 and trumped the absolute peak of first winter shit storm period 💩. The stress was a result of deeper challenges to what I was actually trying to create with the gym and brand and it challenged a lot of what I thought I had built. I felt anxious at work, talking to clients, answering phone calls and sending emails. I have never felt what I felt last week.
I had a small breakdown on Tuesday, nothing major, but I just had to leave the gym and get out. Charlie told me go for a walk along the beach and listen to a podcast with @bpakfitness.. so I did.. and I snapped the photo of the city of Melbourne from last week.
It was a warm day so I had my shirt off, getting some sweet sweet vitamin D. I ran into an old friend and mentor from my early days of coaching. I took my shoes and felt the earth. I downloaded @samharrisorg Waking Up app and meditated for the first time in about 6 months. On the drive home stopped at the supermarket and bought heaps of fruit to eat. That evening was definitely the highlight of my week and it helped me realign my mojo a little.
The rest of the week was better, but still the most stressful/anxious week of my short career as a business owner.
Since then I have meditated 2x daily. I’ve had about 6 hours of talks to those close to me and the business and have set up some actionable strategies to improve the business.
This week so far you can’t wipe the smile off my face. My perception of the stress has changed and I’ve seen it as a platform for further growth. The funny thing is the business is exactly where it was last week and the week before the onslaught of perceived stress.. which is cool... because it’s just another reminder that, I, the human, is the variable in all of life’s happenings, and how I perceive the world around me is what determines my reality... not the other way around.
Life is fucking cool. So is chasing lofty ass goals and realising you’re just a dumb human. #huntprogression
Currently, loosely ‘consulting’ with 2 lifters through IG messages. Both dealing with different upper extremity presentations. My approach is the same for both and has been my way of going about things for a little while now.
1) Address proximal structures first - this starts with breathing drills every single time.
2) Address T-Spine limitations
3) Improve Serratus and Low Trap FUNCTION.
4) Address distal Glenohumeral limitations in mobility, then stability.
So far so good with both lads! Getting more and more people reaching out with the same kinds of upper extremity presentations.. potentially could set up some kind of consultation service moving forward with lifters and their coaches. Just a thought at the moment, but it’s growing. #strengthculture #huntprogression
